This song attempts to describe the feeling of "é—·" or feeling trapped in an almost humid, claustrophobic way. I experienced this feeling frequently the pandemic; I feel though that there isn't a perfect way to describe it in English. Music for me often speaks what words cannot, so I like to use it to capture my more complex emotions and things that are lost in translation.
This song is about my relationship with my mom, and the complications of love that come with many more traditional East Asian parental relationships. Our bond with each other has grown and become healthier since the conception of the lyrics, but in many way I feel this song is one of the most honest depictions of my feelings over the past few years of my life that I've been able to capture. I hope you enjoy!
