Kirby is a junior from Monterey Park, a diasporic community molded through the intersections of war, immigration, and families.
Description
These following works are part of a larger collection that I am writing for my Filipinx Diasporic Poetics class to be shared with the larger community. As a first-generation, low-income Chinese-Vietnamese American, my poetry explores my frustrations and aspirations while thinking about social change, intergenerational knowledge, and community empowerment. These poems are my attempt to write out the untold stories that churn in my head, but I ask that you please put thoughts, emotions, drawings, or anything else on the sticky notes provided near my poems and paste them on the wall. Our thoughts will culminate to create a space that represents our collective power and resilience.
